Dear Seventh District Residents:
Thank you for your participation in the recent Democratic Primary election.
After a lively and productive discussion of the critical issues that face
our community and state, I am humbled to accept the Democratic nomination to
represent you in the State Senate.
My opponent Suzanne Elder and her supporters ran a vigorous campaign and
received meaningful support from people that responded to her message of
reform and change. I share Suzanne's passion for reform and change. I
will represent our entire community based on what I learned from our open
debate these past three months.
State Senator Carol Ronen is likely to retire before the current legislative
session is finished and our local Democratic Committeemen have agreed to
appoint the winner in the Primary until someone wins in November. Carol has
an amazing record of progressive results for our community so I will need
everyone's support as I learn my new role representing the wonderful
diversity that is Illinois' 7th State Senate District. As I said during the
campaign, no one person can possibly embody the diverse perspectives and
backgrounds of our entire community, but I pledge to listen and learn from
everyone's perspective to continually improve our community and state.
Thank you to everyone who particpated and voted in the recent Primary
Election. I'm committed to listening to everyone as I try to use all of our
special talents to let the leadership in Springfield know we need more
progresive results and less conflicting egos in our state policy
discussions.
Sincerely,
Heather Steans
